Dr. Tammy Belanger, DAcHM, Lic.Ac., MAc., OTR/L, CEAS is a Massachusetts licensed and Board-Certified Acupuncturist, Chinese Herbal Medicine Practitioner, and Occupational Therapist with over 30 years of medical experience.

She believes that a thorough background in Western medicine and Western diagnostics plays an important part in her understanding of her clients' conditions and actually helps her to determine the best course of action to be taken within her practice of Eastern medicine. Whether you are new to acupuncture or come to the island with acupuncture experience, Dr. Tammy will easily be able to comprehend your diagnoses and fit a treatment plan to meet your individualized needs.

Dr. Tammy earned her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from Five Branches University, graduating summa cum laude. She also holds a cum laude Master's degree from the prestigious New England School of Acupuncture (NESA), the oldest school of Acupuncture and East Asian medicine in the United States (now affiliated with the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences). Her training included a wide range of traditional and modern healing techniques including Traditional Chinese Medicine, Herbal medicine, Cupping, Electroacupuncture, Magnet therapy, Gua Sha, and Moxibustion. Dr. Tammy also has advanced studies in Japanese Acupuncture under the direction of world-renowned Kiiko Matsumoto and her partner David Euler, shonishin (non-needle treatment for children), Master Tung Acupuncture, Dr. Tan Acupuncture, and Facial/Cosmetic Acupuncture.

Prior to her training in Acupuncture, Dr. Tammy also studied and received cum laude her Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) from the University of New Hampshire. She has worked with all age groups (pediatrics to geriatrics) in multiple hospitals and rehabilitative settings and received her Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist training from the Back School of Atlanta. Locally, she worked per diem at Nantucket Cottage Hospital and also at Our Island Home on Nantucket for 14 years.

Tammy has also shared knowledge of her profession with nursing and athletic training students as an Adjunct Professor of Biology and Allied Health at Merrimac College.

Tammy believes that her training is never done! While of course, she maintains her CPR and Clean Needle Technique training, from the love of her work is a desire to learn more every opportunity she gets.
